Thinking
Fernando's research focuses on eco-innovation in industry. More specifically, it has a strong focus on strategy and policy aspects at the interphase between green innovation, circularity and decarbonization in companies and industrial sectors. More recently, he also started conducting research about systemic innovation and transformative climate resilience.
His research portfolio includes over 60 research grants and advisory contracts, and it has been funded by: the European Commission (Horizon Europe, H2020, FP7, FP6, EuropeAid), UN Environment, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank.
Fernando has also provided advice to private companies in the chemicals, hygiene products, construction and agro-food sectors.

Fernando is not only an accomplished researcher, but he has also been an evaluator for the European Commission Horizon Europe programme, the Dutch Research Funding Organisation NWO, the National Science Foundation of South Africa, the Mexican Science for Science and Technology, among others.
